China and Thailand have teamed up to tackle a major issue plaguing Southeast Asia: human trafficking and online scams. 🚫💻 Online scam operations have been rampant in countries like Myanmar, Cambodia, and Thailand, with individuals lured by false high-paying job ads only to be forced into running scams targeting victims worldwide, including in the Chinese mainland.
In a joint statement issued on Saturday, both nations emphasized the urgency of enhancing cooperation to combat these transnational crimes. They agreed to establish effective coordination mechanisms and promote judicial cooperation among Lancang-Mekong countries to prevent these illicit activities at an early stage.
Additionally, China and Thailand reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening military exchanges, joint training, and defense industry collaboration. This partnership aims to build capacity, foster technology transfer, and promote regional peace and stability.
Marking the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic ties, both sides pledged to deepen cooperation in high-quality development, clean energy, the digital economy, and green growth. Their goals include boosting bilateral trade by expanding market access, promoting high-quality products, and enhancing e-commerce collaboration.
Furthermore, both nations highlighted the importance of connectivity in driving regional economic integration and shared development. They agreed to bolster Belt and Road cooperation, including the China-Thailand railway project, to enhance regional connectivity and economic prosperity. 🌐🚄
