China has officially protested against U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio's recent comments made during his visit to Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). 🛑🇨🇳
During his trips to Panama, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Guatemala, and the Dominican Republic from February 1 to 6, Rubio accused China of attempting to \"counter the influence of the Chinese Communist Party\" in the Western Hemisphere.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry responded swiftly, labeling Rubio's remarks as unfounded and driven by Cold War mentalities and ideological biases. They criticized the accusations as efforts to create discord between China and LAC nations, interfering in China's internal affairs, and undermining its legitimate rights and interests.
Highlighting China-LAC cooperation, the spokesperson emphasized that the partnership is built on mutual respect, equality, and mutual benefit. 🤝✨ \"There is no zero-sum or winner-takes-all approach, only sincere mutual support and cooperation for shared progress,\" they stated.
Regarding cybersecurity, China reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding cyberspace and promoting win-win cooperation. Chinese 5G technologies and secure services continue to gain popularity, despite attempts to discredit them.
On the Taiwan issue, the spokesperson reiterated that there is only one China, with Taiwan being an inalienable part of its territory. They highlighted that 183 countries recognize the one-China principle, aligning with global public opinion.
China remains confident that normal cooperation with LAC countries will persist, undeterred by U.S. interruptions, aiming for stronger, mutually beneficial ties moving forward. 🌍✌️
