In a significant move to strengthen bilateral relations, Zhao Leji, chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, met with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari in Beijing on Wednesday.
The meeting highlighted China's commitment to continuing the traditional friendship with Pakistan. Both leaders emphasized the importance of implementing the key consensus reached by their heads of state and accelerating the formation of an even closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era.
Zhao Leji pointed out that exchanges and cooperation between legislative bodies play a crucial role in bilateral relations. He expressed the NPC's willingness to collaborate with the Pakistani parliament to enhance exchanges at all levels, ensuring a solid legal foundation for China-Pakistan cooperation.
President Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan's firm support for China's core interests and major concerns. He also endorsed China's three global initiatives: the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the Global Civilization Initiative.
Looking ahead, Pakistan is ready to promote interactions between the legislatures of both countries, aiming to deepen the Pakistan-China all-weather strategic cooperative partnership.
