Mainland and Taiwan Leaders Advocate Unity at Harbin Snow Festival ❄️

In the heart of Harbin's winter wonderland 🌨️, leaders from the Chinese mainland and Taiwan came together to call for unity and cooperation across the Taiwan Strait.

Song Tao, head of the Taiwan Work Office of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, met with Ma Ying-jeou, former chairman of the Kuomintang, on a chilly Wednesday evening.

The duo wasn't just there to enjoy the city's famous ice and snow festival ❄️⛸️; they were on a mission to bridge gaps and strengthen ties between the two sides.

Song conveyed warm greetings from Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing the nation's future and upholding the one-China principle. He called on people on both sides to firmly oppose \"Taiwan independence\" separatism and external interference.

\"Let's work together to improve cross-strait relations, maintain peace and stability, and pursue national rejuvenation,\" Song urged.

Ma Ying-jeou echoed these sentiments, expressing gratitude for Xi's greetings. \"We should uphold the 1992 Consensus, oppose 'Taiwan independence,' and expand exchange and cooperation,\" he said. \"Together, we can promote the peaceful development of cross-strait relations.\"

The meeting, held against the backdrop of dazzling ice sculptures and festive lights ✨, symbolizes a hopeful step towards greater understanding and collaboration.
