Chinese Mainland Slams Lai Ching-te’s U.S. ‘Stopover’ as Separatist Move

Hey there, news enthusiasts! 📢

In a recent development, the Chinese mainland has spoken out against Lai Ching-te's so-called \\"stopover\\" in the United States, calling it a separatist move aimed at seeking \\"Taiwan independence.\\"

At a press briefing on Wednesday, Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, expressed firm opposition to any official interaction between the U.S. and the Taiwan region of China. She emphasized that any \\"transit\\" by a Taiwan leader to the U.S., under any name or pretext, is unacceptable.

Zhu highlighted that the separatist stance of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities in Taiwan poses the greatest threat to current cross-strait relations. She accused the DPP authorities of colluding with external forces to provoke separatist actions, effectively hijacking Taiwan onto their \\"Taiwan independence\\" chariot. 🚂

She urged the DPP authorities to abandon any illusions of seeking \\"Taiwan independence\\" by relying on external support or military forces, and to cease all separatist activities.

\\"Only by returning to the 1992 Consensus, which embodies the one-China principle, can cross-strait relations get back on the right track of peaceful development, ensuring a secure future for Taiwan's growth and prosperity,\\" Zhu stated.
