Chen Binhua: U.S. and DPP 'Harming, Not Protecting' Taiwan 💬

🚨 An increasing number of people in the Taiwan region are waking up to the reality that the United States and the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities are causing more harm than protection, according to Chen Binhua, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council.

Speaking on Wednesday, Chen highlighted a recent survey in Taiwan that shows a shift in public opinion. 📊 The poll revealed that 51% of residents disagree with the U.S. demand for Taiwan to pay \"protection fees,\" and a whopping 57% don't believe the U.S. would send troops to defend the island.

🧐 \"More people in Taiwan have broken through the information cocoon manufactured by the DPP authorities,\" Chen remarked. He warned that the DPP's reliance on the United States is pushing Taiwan to the edge of disaster.

Addressing comments by Lai Ching-te about U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's key nominees having \"close ties\" to Taiwan, Chen asserted that such connections won't change the fact that Taiwan is part of China. 🇨🇳

Chen criticized the Taiwan authorities for seeking U.S. support for a \"Taiwan independence\" agenda, stating that this approach won't help them \"escape from the tragic fate of being abandoned.\" 💔

He emphasized that the Taiwan question is at the heart of China's core interests and forms the political foundation of China-U.S. relations. \"It's the top red line that cannot be crossed in bilateral relations,\" Chen stated firmly. 🚫

On the topic of U.S. arms sales to Taiwan, Chen expressed strong opposition. He urged the U.S. to abide by the one-China principle and the provisions of the three joint communiques, calling for an immediate halt to arming Taiwan. 🛑
