China Gives Green Light 🚦 to Philippines Resupplying Grounded Ship at Ren’ai Jiao

In a move making waves 🌊 in the South China Sea, China has permitted the Philippines to send supplies to its grounded warship at Ren'ai Jiao. On Thursday, a Philippine civilian vessel transported provisions to the BRP Sierra Madre, a tank landing ship that has been stranded there since 1999.

The China Coast Guard (CCG) confirmed on Friday that it oversaw the resupply mission. \"The CCG conducted verification and maintained surveillance throughout the process,\" stated spokesperson Liu Dejun.

Liu called on the Philippines to honor its commitments and work with China to maintain peace in the maritime region. \"The CCG will continue rights protection and law enforcement activities in China's Nansha Qundao, including Ren'ai Jiao, and its adjacent waters,\" he added.

The BRP Sierra Madre was grounded by the Philippines over two decades ago, and despite promises to remove it, the vessel remains—a point of contention between the two nations.

As both countries navigate these choppy waters 🚢, cooperation is key to ensuring stability in the region. For young global citizens keeping an eye on international affairs, this event highlights the importance of dialogue and honoring agreements between neighbors.
