Typhoon Kong-rey Claims 3 Lives in Taiwan, Heads to Mainland China

Brace yourselves, folks! 🌪️ Typhoon Kong-rey has made a dramatic entrance, causing havoc on the island of Taiwan. As of Friday morning, three residents have tragically lost their lives due to the storm's impact.

On Thursday afternoon, Kong-rey swooped onto the east coast of Taiwan, bringing heavy rain and fierce winds. In response, local authorities sprang into action—offices and schools were temporarily closed, airlines canceled or delayed flights, and all ferry services were put on hold. Safety first! 🚫✈️🚢

By Thursday evening, the typhoon's center moved into the Taiwan Strait from Taiwan's Changhua County, downgrading to a severe tropical storm. But don't be fooled—it's still packing a punch! 💥 As of 5 a.m. on Friday, Kong-rey was about 290 kilometers southwest of Wenling City in Zhejiang Province, according to the China Meteorological Administration.

The storm is set to make landfall around Wenling City in eastern Zhejiang Province this afternoon. Stay tuned and stay safe, everyone! 🙏
