Typhoon Kong-rey Targets Taiwan and Shanghai: Torrential Rains Expected 🌧️

Hold onto your umbrellas, folks! 🌂

Typhoon Kong-rey, the 21st typhoon this year, is gearing up to make landfall along the eastern coast of the island of Taiwan between noon and evening this Thursday. But that's not all—it's then shifting northeast towards the Chinese mainland, targeting the coastal areas of Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian provinces, and the bustling metropolis of Shanghai! 😱

According to the China Meteorological Administration, Shanghai is prepping for rainfall between 120 and 180 millimeters, with some areas expecting a downpour of up to 70 millimeters per hour! That's like a bucket of water every second—talk about a splash! 💦

Meteorological authorities in Taiwan have already issued a land warning early Wednesday. Mountainous regions in Yilan and Hualien counties are bracing for extremely heavy rain from Wednesday evening through early Thursday. Hualien is expected to be the wettest spot, with over 900 millimeters of rainfall forecasted for Thursday alone. That's more rain than you see in a whole year in some places! 🌧️

With such extreme weather on the horizon, multiple airlines have announced delays, rescheduling, or cancellations of international flights to and from Taiwan. If you've got travel plans, now's the time to check in and stay updated! ✈️

Stay safe out there, and don't forget your rain boots! 🥾
