Chinese mainland trade up 3.6% in Jan-Nov 2025

Recently, data from the General Administration of Customs of the Chinese mainland showed that from January to November 2025, the total value of imports and exports reached 41.21 trillion yuan (US$5.75 trillion), a 3.6% increase year on year. 💹

In November alone, foreign trade jumped 4.1% compared to last year, hitting 3.9 trillion yuan. Exports were especially strong, up 5.7% at 2.35 trillion yuan, while imports climbed 1.7% to 1.55 trillion yuan.

Key highlights for Jan–Nov:

  • Exports: 24.46 trillion yuan, +6.2% YoY
  • Imports: 16.75 trillion yuan, +0.2% YoY
  • Belt and Road Initiative trade: 21.33 trillion yuan, +6.0%, making up 51.8% of total trade
  • Private-sector trade: 23.52 trillion yuan, +7.1% YoY
  • Mechanical & electrical exports: 14.89 trillion yuan, +8.8%, 60.9% of exports
  • Labor-intensive exports: 3.7 trillion yuan, -3.5%, 15.1% of exports

Overall, the figures highlight steady recovery in global demand and growing strength in the Chinese mainland’s manufacturing sectors. As private enterprises and Belt and Road partners drive growth, the outlook for 2026 looks bright. ✨
