China has unveiled a tiered strategy aimed at boosting employment prospects for the record 12.22 million college graduates entering the workforce in 2025. At a recent recruitment fair held at Guangxi Medical University, employers from sectors like health care, AI, and education presented a range of career opportunities. "Large fairs like this help us engage directly with employers," said Huang Chenxi, a student seeking administrative work in a hospital.
The campaign includes extending one-time job expansion subsidies to social organizations, previously available only to enterprises. In addition, the "100 counties for 100 universities" drive is bridging information gaps between local businesses and academic institutions, as demonstrated by events in Ningbo and Nanning that offered thousands of jobs.
To meet the evolving demands of the labor market, the Ministry of Education has launched over 2,600 "micro-major" programs and 1,100 professional training courses, equipping graduates for emerging industries. A digital overhaul of the national employment platform—powered by AI and big data—has boosted engagement, hosting 111 online job fairs and listing over 20 million job openings.
Local efforts also contribute to the initiative. In northeast China's Jilin Province, dedicated HR officials are providing tailored guidance to university graduates, while support from the Ministry of Finance has helped offer over 1.1 million targeted positions through 1,124 job fairs.
