Chinese Vice Premier Calls for Expanded U.S.-China Trade Cooperation

In a spirited high-level meeting over the weekend, Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng engaged in an open dialogue with U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer. The discussion centered on expanding cooperation between the Chinese mainland and the United States, following the important consensus reached by the heads-of-state on January 17.

He Lifeng stressed that the two nations share extensive common interests and that robust economic and trade relations create win-win opportunities. Despite differences stemming from varying economic systems and development stages, resolving disputes with mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation remains key 🤝.

The vice premier warned that while no one benefits in a trade war, both sides must be ready to protect their rights if disagreements escalate. Instead, he urged leaders to extend their list of cooperation, explore new partnership opportunities, and bolster economic stability for the benefit of both populations and the global economy 🌍.

To ensure continuous dialogue on economic and trade concerns, both parties agreed to establish a new consultation mechanism, paving the way for a more predictable and dynamic relationship.
