Mexican President Says No Deal on Tariffs in Trump Call

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum revealed that during a recent call with her U.S. counterpart, Donald Trump, she presented arguments against tariffs on steel, aluminum, and automobiles. Despite the spirited exchange, no agreement was reached.

Sheinbaum highlighted trade imbalances by noting that the U.S. exports more steel and aluminum to Mexico than it imports. In response, Mexico is considering its options under the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement as well as invoking World Trade Organization rules tied to the "Most Favored Nation" clause to ensure fair treatment in trade.

In a related development, Mexico's Minister of Environment and Natural Resources, Alicia Barcenas, is in San Diego meeting with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency officials to discuss concerns about sewage being dumped from Tijuana into the Pacific. This move underscores Mexico's commitment to tackling both trade and environmental challenges head on. 😎🚀

Stay tuned as these dynamic discussions continue to unfold, shaping a future where trade balance and environmental responsibility go hand in hand!
