UK Chancellor: Disengaging from China is ‘Foolish’

British Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves recently warned that it would be "very foolish" for the UK to disengage from China. She pointed out that China, as the world’s second-largest economy, offers huge opportunities through continued economic cooperation. 🤝

During her visit to China earlier this year, Reeves joined the 11th China-UK Economic and Financial Dialogue with leading financial institutions like HSBC, the London Stock Exchange Group, Standard Chartered, and Prudential. This event helped secure new licenses and quotas for British financial firms, resulting in a deal estimated at around 600 million pounds to fuel the economy. 💷

Reeves also expressed support for innovative moves such as fast fashion company Shein listing on the London Stock Exchange and even mentioned her openness to riding in Chinese-made electric vehicles despite so-called "spying fears." As the UK prepares for a strategic trip to Washington next week, her remarks underline a commitment to strong economic ties and a future built on global partnership. 🌍
