China Urges US to Rethink Tariff Policies for Stronger Trade Ties

In a recent move, Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao reached out to the newly appointed United States Trade Representative, Jamieson Greer, to express concerns over the current US tariff policies. 📈

Wang congratulated Greer on his new role and highlighted the significant progress made in China-US economic and trade relations since diplomatic ties were established. These collaborations have not only fueled economic growth but also boosted employment and enhanced the well-being of people on both sides. 🌍🤝

A healthy economic partnership between China and the US aligns with the shared interests of both nations and meets the expectations of the global community, Wang emphasized.

However, tensions have risen as China strongly opposes the US decision to impose an additional 10% tariff on Chinese goods, citing fentanyl-related issues. In response, China has taken necessary countermeasures to protect its legitimate rights and interests. ⚖️

Wang also pointed out the multiple investigations targeting China under the \"America First Trade Policy\" memorandum. He called for the US to handle these investigations with objective, rational, and professional attitudes, enhancing transparency throughout the process. 🔍

\"It's natural for China and the United States to have differences in the economic and trade field. We should address our respective concerns through equal dialogue and consultation,\" the minister concluded.
