🇲🇽 Mexico is hitting back! President Claudia Sheinbaum announced on Saturday that Mexico will impose its own tariffs and other measures in response to U.S. President Donald Trump's tariffs on Mexican imports.
Sheinbaum rejected Washington's accusations that her government is allied with drug trafficking groups, calling the claims \\"slander.\\"
\\"We categorically reject the White House's slander that the Mexican government has alliances with criminal organizations, as well as any intention of meddling in our territory,\\" she wrote in a passionate post on X.
This move comes after President Trump signed an order imposing tariffs on imports from Mexico, Canada, and China. But Sheinbaum is all about dialogue over drama. 🤝
\\"Our government doesn't seek confrontation with our northern neighbor,\\" she emphasized. \\"We aim for collaboration and dialogue.\\"
Since taking office in October, Sheinbaum highlighted her administration's efforts, including seizing 20 million doses of the lethal synthetic opioid fentanyl and detaining over 100,000 individuals linked to drug trafficking.
Meanwhile, up north, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that Canada will impose 25% tariffs on C$155 billion worth of U.S. goods in response to U.S. tariffs. \\"We're standing up for our country's interests,\\" Trudeau stated.
