China Cautions EU: Separate EV Talks May Erode Mutual Trust 🚗⚡

In an unexpected twist, China has voiced concerns over the European Union's approach to electric vehicle (EV) price discussions. A spokesperson from the Chinese Commerce Ministry warned on Monday that the EU's decision to hold separate price commitment talks with individual Chinese firms, while simultaneously negotiating with China as a whole, could seriously undermine mutual trust between the two economic giants.

\"This strategy not only disrupts the overall negotiation process but also adds unnecessary administrative costs to the implementation and supervision of price commitment agreements,\" the spokesperson stated.

Flashback to October 25: Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao and European Commission Executive Vice President and Trade Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis had a virtual sit-down. During this meeting, China emphasized that the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products had been fully authorized by a diverse array of Chinese enterprises to propose a price commitment plan representing the industry's collective stance.

\"On this basis, China and the EU have conducted several rounds of consultations with significant efforts made and some progress achieved,\" the spokesperson highlighted.

China is now urging both sides to build on these prior consultations. \"Let's accelerate the negotiation process to secure substantive breakthroughs as soon as possible,\" the spokesperson added, hinting at a desire to keep the momentum going.

This development comes at a critical time for the global EV market, where collaboration between China and the EU could drive innovation and accessibility. 🌍🔌
