🔥 Cyberattacks are no longer just causing disruptions—they're threatening lives! At the Cyber Security Summit in Tashkent, Aloysius Cheang, Huawei's President of Cybersecurity & Privacy Protection and Chief Security Officer for the Middle East and Central Asia, sounded the alarm on the escalating dangers of cyber warfare.
Cheang didn't hold back: \"Cybersecurity is no longer a weapon of mass disruption but of mass destruction, because it can kill lives.\" 😱 He stressed that despite decades of investments, the industry is still struggling with the same problems from 30 years ago. \"You're not hitting the target at the bullseye… you defined the problem statement wrongly,\" he pointed out.
So, what's the deal? According to Cheang, one of the biggest weak spots is supply chain security. 🚚🔐 He highlighted a recent pager attack in Lebanon where attackers allegedly embedded backdoors during the production phase. \"What the perpetrators have done is attack the supply chain… imbued the backdoor in the product that can be remotely triggered,\" he explained. Talk about sneaky! 🕵️♂️
This kind of infiltration is a massive risk, especially for critical infrastructure that could be compromised before it even gets to us, the consumers. Cheang is calling for a global, collaborative approach to tackle these issues head-on. 🌍✊
It's clear that the game has changed, and traditional methods aren't cutting it anymore. It's time for a fresh perspective and a united front to keep our digital world safe. Are we up for the challenge? 💪
