Big news on the global trade front! China just took a bold step by filing a complaint against Canada at the World Trade Organization (WTO) over what it calls Canada's \"unilateralism and trade protectionism\" practices. 
So, what's the tea? 
Well, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced on Wednesday that it's not happy with Canada's new trade measures. Canada has slapped a 100% tariff on all Chinese-made electric vehicles (EVs), including some hybrids, trucks, and buses. 
This hefty tariff came into effect on Tuesday and was first announced back in August.
But that's not all! Canada also revealed it will impose a 25% surtax on select imports of steel and aluminum from China starting October 22. 
The Chinese Ministry of Commerce didn't hold back, stating that Canada's actions violate market economy principles and fair competition. They believe these moves are seriously harming normal economic and trade cooperation between the two countries and are messing with global industrial and supply chains. 
China is calling on Canada to take a chill pill 
and view their economic and trade cooperation rationally and objectively. They urged Canada to comply with WTO rules and not go further down the \"wrong path.\" 
And here's the kicker: China says it will take all necessary measures to firmly protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises.
