China’s Big Dive into Deep-Sea Farming 🌊🐟

Aquatic products aren't just delicious—they're a vital source of high-quality protein for people worldwide. Did you know that in 2023, China produced a whopping 71.16 million tonnes of aquatic products? That's massive! 🐠🇨🇳

For over 30 years, China's fishery industry has been booming. But with inland lakes, ponds, and coastal areas getting crowded, and marine fishing resources nearly fished out 🎣, new solutions are needed to keep up with demand and protect the environment.

Enter deep-sea aquaculture! 🌊🚀 By expanding fish farming into the deep blue sea, China is taking bold steps to ensure food security and promote human well-being.

In 2017, China completed \"Ocean Farm 1,\" the world's first large-scale deep-sea aquaculture platform developed in Norway. This giant fish farm can dive down to 300 meters! 😲 The world took notice when it made its splashy debut.

Inspired by innovative ideas from Norway 🇳🇴, the Chinese government is pushing forward. In 2019, ten ministries teamed up to support green deep-sea aquaculture and encouraged building large-scale, intelligent platforms.

Fast forward to June 2023, when eight ministries, including the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, rolled out plans to speed up deep-sea aquaculture across the whole industry. Their focus? Key areas and critical links to make deep-sea farming a reality.

And just this October, the State Council released a white paper titled \"Development of China's Distant-Water Fisheries,\" showcasing China's achievements and future plans in the field.

China's diving deep to build an ocean community of shared future 🌍🤝. By investing in deep-sea aquaculture, they're not only feeding millions but also promoting sustainable practices to protect our beautiful blue planet.
