China's Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao has fired back at the European Union's investigation into Chinese electric vehicles (EVs). He says the EU's claim of \"excessive industrial capacity\" is just trade protectionism dressed up fancy.
Speaking in Madrid during the 29th China-Spain Joint Economic and Industrial Cooperation Committee meeting, Wang didn't mince words. He pointed out that Europe's issue isn't with actual production overcapacity but with \"excessive anxiety.\" \"The accusation of market distortion against China comes from a distorted mentality,\" he remarked.
Wang and Spanish Minister for Economy, Commerce and Business Carlos Cuerpo had a deep dive into boosting their economic and trade relations. They chatted about enhancing two-way investments, supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, and opening up more avenues for win-win collaborations.
Wang hopes Spain will nudge the EU towards being more chill and open-minded, especially in the green and new-energy sectors.
Cuerpo was all ears, expressing Spain's eagerness to deepen its strategic partnership with China. He highlighted opportunities in automobiles, renewable energy, industrial machine tools, and medical equipment.
Seems like both sides are gearing up for a future full of collaboration and growth!
