Bridging Gaps: China and U.S. Trade Officials Talk It Out 🤝
In a move that could thaw the chilly vibes between China and the U.S., Chinese Vice Commerce Minister Wang Shouwen and U.S. Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Marisa Lago had an \"in-depth and frank conversation\" via video on Tuesday. 🌐
The virtual meet-up focused on economic and trade issues that both sides care about, and laid the groundwork for the first vice-ministerial meeting of the China-U.S. economic working group, according to the Chinese Ministry of Commerce.
Wang highlighted that economic and trade cooperation between China and the U.S. is a stabilizing force in their bilateral relationship. He expressed China's willingness to work with the U.S. to put into action the important agreements reached by their leaders after the recent summit in San Francisco. 🏙️
\"Let's give full play to the role of the China-U.S. economic working group to expand cooperation, manage differences, and create favorable conditions for cooperation between our business communities,\" Wang said.
However, it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows. 🌦️ Wang didn't hold back in expressing concerns over U.S. export controls on semiconductors and cloud services, the unfair treatment of Chinese companies in the U.S., and restrictive measures on Chinese photovoltaic products.
Could this be the start of a new chapter in China-U.S. relations? Only time will tell. But one thing's for sure: open dialogue is a step in the right direction! 🚀
