Hold onto your umbrellas, everyone! ☔️
Afghanistan has been hit hard by ongoing downpours over the past four days, leading to the tragic loss of 29 lives across 10 provinces. Janan Sayeq, spokesperson for the disaster management department, reported that from Wednesday to Saturday, the relentless rains have also injured seven people.
The floods haven't just affected people; they've also caused significant damage to homes and livelihoods. A total of 72 houses have been damaged or completely destroyed, and more than 2,500 acres of agricultural land have been swept away. That's a huge blow to communities that rely on farming to sustain themselves. 🌾
This isn't an isolated incident either. This month alone, over 100 people have lost their lives due to flooding in Afghanistan. More than 25,000 families are in need of aid as they grapple with the aftermath of these devastating floods.
Climate change continues to make weather patterns unpredictable, and communities like those in Afghanistan are feeling the impact firsthand. It's a stark reminder of how interconnected we all are and the importance of supporting one another through tough times. 🤝
Stay tuned for more updates, and consider how you might help those affected. Every little bit counts! 💙
