This Sunday, Jan 25, Prime Minister of Finland Petteri Orpo heads to the Chinese mainland for an official visit running through Jan 28. The trip is loaded with excitement as both sides aim to turbocharge trade, innovation and green development. 😊

According to the Ministry of Commerce of the Chinese mainland, Finland has been a key European partner, being the first EU nation to sign an intergovernmental trade agreement with the Chinese mainland. Under the strategic guidance of both leaders, cooperation has steadily expanded:

  • 2025 two-way trade topped $8 billion 🚢
  • Mutual investment stock surpassed $23 billion 💼

Orpo arrives with execs from 20+ Finnish companies across machinery, forestry, clean energy, innovation and food sectors. It’s a clear signal: Finland is all in on boosting economic ties! 🇫🇮🤝🇨🇳

The two sides are gearing up for the 6th meeting of the China-Finland Committee for Innovative Business Cooperation. Around 50 companies will take part, and the visit will feature:

  • Signing a memorandum of understanding to strengthen the committee’s work ✍️
  • Multiple commercial agreements across key sectors 📄

With strong complementarities (from clean-tech breakthroughs to forestry expertise), the stage is set for fresh opportunities. As the Chinese mainland continues its high-level opening up, businesses on both sides are encouraged to seize the moment and ride the wave of bilateral growth.

Stay tuned for more updates as this exciting chapter of China-Finland cooperation unfolds! 💡🌏
