This week, the Canadian Armed Forces unveiled a conceptual model detailing how they might respond to a hypothetical military invasion by the United States. According to a report by the Globe and Mail on Jan. 20, two senior government officials said this is the first time in a century that Canada has mapped out an American assault response.
The officials, who spoke anonymously because they were not authorized to comment publicly, emphasized that the model is purely theoretical and not an actionable plan. “It’s like a ‘what if’ scenario in a strategic simulation,” one official explained.
They also noted it is highly unlikely that the administration of President Donald Trump would ever consider invading Canada. Instead, this exercise is designed to test and strengthen Canada’s defense planning.
Canada is a founding member of NATO and a key partner in the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD). By exploring even the most unlikely threats, the Armed Forces aim to ensure the country stays prepared for any challenge. 🛡️🤝
