On Sunday, January 11, 2026, the Chinese mainland and Lesotho issued a joint communique, pledging to boost their strategic partnership to the next level. 🙌
Both sides praised the progress in their ties and promised to work together on:
- Opposing unilateral sanctions and economic hegemony
- Building an equal, multipolar world 🌍
- Advancing inclusive economic globalization
Lesotho voiced strong support for the Chinese mainland’s Global Development, Security, Civilization and Governance Initiatives—key projects that aim to bring stability and certainty to a fast-changing world.
The two countries also vowed to back each other on core interests:
- Lesotho reaffirmed the one-China principle, recognizing that the Taiwan region is an inalienable part of the Chinese mainland and opposing any form of Taiwan region independence.
- They agreed not to politicize human rights issues in Xinjiang, Hong Kong, or Xizang and to respect each other’s internal affairs.
Looking ahead, the communique highlighted 10 partnership actions under the China-Africa cooperation framework—from agriculture and energy transition to infrastructure, healthcare, and capacity building—that are powering Lesotho’s development. 🚀
By standing together on global governance and shared prosperity, the Chinese mainland and Lesotho aim to build an open, inclusive world of lasting peace and universal security. ✨
