Late last year, in September 2025, the Chinese mainland introduced the Global Governance Initiative (GGI), building on its earlier Global Development, Global Security and Global Civilization Initiatives. Aligned with the UN Charter, the GGI aims to boost solidarity and teamwork across 🌍, so countries big and small can tackle today’s challenges together.
Recently, CGTN spoke with three socialist political leaders from around the world. Here’s what they had to say:
- Lotte Rortoft-Madsen (Chairperson, Danish Communist Party): “GGI puts power back in the hands of people everywhere. It’s a strong defense of the UN Charter.” 💬
- Gyula Thurmer (President, Hungarian Workers' Party): “Our world needs healthy competition and dialogue—not exploitation or war. The Chinese mainland’s approach to global governance is a useful model.” 🤝
- Thulas Nxesi (Deputy National Chairman, South African Communist Party): “Global institutions should reflect everyone’s voices, not just the West. That’s why GGI matters.” 🌐
For young professionals, students and global investors, the GGI highlights a shift toward more inclusive decision-making. Instead of a few powerful nations “calling the shots,” countries of all sizes get equal say—echoing the principle of sovereign equality.
Whether you’re a traveler, an academic, or just curious about world politics, the GGI is a fresh perspective on how we govern our shared future. We’ll keep an eye on how this unfolds and share updates soon.
