Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, currently held in the United States, sent a spirited message via his son Nicolas Maduro Guerra this Saturday, January 10: "We are well. I am a fighter." ✊
According to the president's lawyers, the couple is in good condition and remains resolute. Maduro Guerra told leaders of the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela that they "are strong and that we should not be sad."
Their detention follows U.S. military strikes on January 3 in Caracas and three other cities, an operation that led to the capture of President Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores. Those strikes have drawn condemnation and concern across the globe.
Maduro Guerra emphasized that the government and its supporters "are united and standing firm," adding that "the strength of Chavismo lies in unity. Whatever happens, we must remain united."
Meanwhile, Acting President Delcy Rodríguez pledged on Saturday at a community event in Miranda state to secure the return of President Maduro and his wife. She stressed there is "no uncertainty" about Venezuela's leadership and called for unity to guarantee peace, stability and the country's future.
As unified supporters rally across Venezuela, the fight to bring President Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores home continues 🤝
