ChatGPT Health vs. Ant Group’s Afu: The AI Wellness Race Heats Up

On January 7, 2026, OpenAI rolled out ChatGPT for Healthcare, a dedicated space inside ChatGPT to answer health questions and sync with apps like Apple Health 💡

This move comes as AI becomes a go-to for quick wellness tips: over 230 million people worldwide ask health and wellness questions on ChatGPT weekly. Leading institutions such as AdventHealth, Baylor Scott & White Health and Boston Children's Hospital have already adopted the model.

Last month, in December 2025, Ant Group in the Chinese mainland upgraded its AI health app to Ant Afu (Afu means blessing and well-being), revamping it for personal health management. In just a month, Afu hit 30 million monthly active users and handled over 10 million daily queries 🚀

To boost reliability, OpenAI grounds answers in peer-reviewed research, public health guidance and clinical guidelines, and keeps ChatGPT Health separate with enhanced data protections. Conversations there aren't used to train its main models 🔒

Meanwhile, Ant Afu integrates a human touch by connecting users to 300,000 licensed doctors for online consultations, with more than 27 million health inquiries answered to date.

With both tech giants racing to become your digital wellness buddy, the future of health care is looking more personal and high-tech than ever 🌐❤️
