China is rolling out the red carpet ✨ for the upcoming visit of the Republic of Korea’s (ROK) President Lee Jae Myung. On Wednesday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi spoke with ROK Foreign Minister Cho Hyun by phone and reaffirmed Beijing’s enthusiasm for closer ties.
Under the strategic guidance of the two presidents, China-ROK relations have bounced back from recent lows and are now on a steady, positive track. Both sides believe President Lee’s trip will spark fresh momentum in their strategic cooperative partnership 🤝.
Wang Yi also noted that 2026 marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. In light of some political forces in Japan trying to rewrite history, he expressed confidence that the ROK side will adopt a responsible stance, safeguard justice, and uphold the one-China principle regarding the Taiwan question.
For his part, Cho Hyun emphasized President Lee’s commitment to deepening cooperation with China. The ROK is ready to work hand in hand with Beijing to ensure a smooth, successful visit and reiterated its unchanged support for the one-China principle 🌏.
