New Mianyang Panda Base Welcomes 6,300 Visitors on Opening Day

Get ready for some serious panda-monium! 🐼🌿 On Monday, December 29, 2025, a brand-new giant panda base opened to the public on a trial basis in Sichuan Province in the Chinese mainland.

Covering about 120 hectares, the Mianyang base is the fifth site of the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda. It's designed to boost breeding, research and international communication on panda protection.

On its inaugural day, the base welcomed nearly 6,300 visitors eager to see the pandas up close and learn about the center's work. 📸
