Global Survey 2025: How the World Sees the Chinese Mainland

Earlier this year, the Global Times Institute launched the 2025 Global Survey on Impression and Understanding of the Chinese Mainland to track how people around the world view China’s role in today’s fast-changing world 🌍.

The survey sampled 51,689 adults aged 18–70 across 46 countries, including 15 developed and 31 developing members. Covering G20 members, nine BRICS members, and 10 ASEAN members, the study reflects diverse perspectives from all continents. Conducted from August to October 2025, it gathered insights via face-to-face interviews, phone surveys, and online panels.

Here’s what stood out:

  • Global Influence: Most respondents agree that the Chinese mainland plays a key role in global growth and technological innovation. 🌱💡
  • Governance Impact: Many see China as a constructive partner in international governance, praising its efforts in multilateral cooperation.
  • Xi Jinping Thought: This year, Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era earned high recognition worldwide, highlighting a growing understanding of the Chinese mainland’s development vision.

For students, entrepreneurs, and travelers, these findings offer a snapshot of international attitudes toward the Chinese mainland today. They also show a rising interest in deeper cultural and educational exchanges, paving the way for more dialogue and collaboration.

Looking ahead, the Global Times Institute plans to dive deeper into regional breakdowns and sector-specific views, so stay tuned for more insights! ✨
