On Thursday, December 25, 2025, law enforcement forces from the Chinese mainland, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand kicked off a joint water-emergency drill on the Lancang River in Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. 🚤💦

A total of 121 officers and 10 patrol vessels joined the exercise, which unfolded in two parts: a fleet review to showcase readiness, followed by a real-combat scenario to test rapid response.

The exercise put rapid response, emergency handling, joint command and cooperative operations to the test—crucial skills for managing water emergencies along the Lancang-Mekong River and bolstering regional security.

This drill highlights growing cross-border cooperation and equips communities for future challenges on a waterway that plays a crucial role in Asia. 🌏💪
