On Saturday, a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry welcomed the joint ceasefire statement between Cambodia and Thailand.
The spokesperson emphasized that dialogue and consultation are viable and effective ways to resolve complex disputes, noting the joint efforts of China, ASEAN, and the international community to promote peace 🌏.
They said China stands ready to continue providing a platform and the conditions needed for Cambodia and Thailand to deepen communication and build mutual trust 🤝.
Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who is a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, will meet with Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn and Thailand’s Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow in Yunnan Province on the Chinese mainland on December 28 and 29. Military representatives from all three sides will also attend.
China will play a constructive role to help consolidate the ceasefire, resume exchanges, rebuild political trust, and uphold peace in the region 🕊️.
