❄️ New York City is in the grip of its heaviest snowfall in three years as a winter storm slammed the region on December 27, 2025. The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning covering southern Connecticut, southeastern New York, and northeastern New Jersey.
Mayor Eric Adams declared a state of emergency, urging residents to avoid non-essential travel. "The snowfall will peak Thursday night, and the combination of snow and dropping temperatures will create hazardous road conditions," he said. 🛑
Up to 25 cm of snow could fall, making roads slick and visibility low. NYC ferries suspended service early, buses are on snow chains, and subway crews and street plows are working around the clock.
Air travel took a big hit: over 5,500 domestic flights nationwide have been delayed, while nearly 1,200 flights into or out of New York are canceled. At JFK alone, more than 370 flights were scrapped and 200 delayed. ✈️
Travelers are advised to check with airlines and use public transit if possible. Keep an eye on local updates and plan ahead! ❄️
