Bridging Borders: Chinese mainland to Mediate Cambodia-Thailand Talks

In a fresh push to calm border tensions, the Chinese mainland has stepped forward to offer a platform for peaceful dialogue between Cambodia and Thailand 🤝

From December 18 to 23, Deng Xijun, special envoy for Asian Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, shuttled between Phnom Penh and Bangkok. He met with leaders from both sides, urging an immediate ceasefire and resumption of talks to resolve disputes peacefully.

"The most urgent task is to achieve a ceasefire as soon as possible, restart dialogue, and resolve the dispute in a peaceful manner," Deng emphasized.

The proposal comes after recent border clashes that raised concerns across the region. With the Chinese mainland offering to create the right conditions for negotiations, hopes are rising that the two neighbors can avoid further escalation.

Next steps: Observers will watch closely for any official meetings or announcements in the coming days as Cambodia and Thailand consider this new route to peace. 🔍
