Record Aid Cuts Deepen Sudan and Gaza Crises

Today, as 2025 winds down, record cuts to international aid are leaving a stark gap between human suffering and available relief. This year, some of the world's most severe crises – especially in Sudan and the Gaza Strip – have intensified while funds shrink.

According to a recent poll of aid agencies, Sudan tops the list of overlooked emergencies in 2025. Roughly 30 million people now need assistance amid a civil war that has run for three years and stubborn blockades that hinder lifesaving aid.

The conflict between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces has caused:

  • More than 14 million people displaced
  • Tens of thousands of deaths
  • Widespread damage to civilian infrastructure and services

UN reports describe mass killings at displacement camps and escalating violence in Darfur and Kordofan, where drone strikes and attacks on health facilities have added to civilian hardship.

Beyond displacement, the human toll is staggering:

  • 21 million people struggling for food
  • 4.3 million refugees abroad
  • 10 million children out of school
  • Cholera outbreaks and critical child malnutrition

Despite a UN assistance plan requesting $4.16 billion, funding remains far below needs. Many communities lack reliable access to food, clean water, or medical care. 🙏

Meanwhile, in the Gaza Strip, years of conflict between Israel and Hamas have driven another humanitarian emergency. UN data shows that nearly 10,000 children were treated for acute malnutrition in October alone, and hundreds of pregnant and breastfeeding women are struggling with severe nutritional deficiencies.

As December unfolds, the gap between suffering and support is a stark reminder that global solidarity is more important than ever. Stay informed, stay aware, and share these stories to keep the conversation alive. 🌍💔
