Sydney Police Arrest Seven in Foiled Violent Plot

🚨 On December 18, 2025, armed officers from the NSW Police special tactics unit intercepted two vehicles in Liverpool, a suburb in Sydneys southwest, after receiving a tip that seven men might be planning a violent act in the city still reeling from last Sundays Bondi Beach shooting.

The suspects were pulled over head-on when an unmarked police SUV rammed the hatchback they were driving. Footage shows them lying face down on the asphalt, zip-tied and searched by officers in camouflage gear. One man even appears to be bleeding from a head wound 😮.

Authorities have invoked Australias rarely used terrorism and national security legislation, allowing them to detain and question these men for up to a week before charging. This preemptive action reflects the “very low tolerance for risk” Deputy Commissioner David Hudson emphasized, especially after Australias worst mass shooting in almost 30 years.

Hudson told 702 ABC Radio Sydney on Friday morning that “we had some indication Bondi was on their radar, but no specific intent is proven at this stage.” He added that one of the suspects was already under watch by the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation, with links to extremist Islamist ideology.

As of December 19, the seven men remain in custody, but they may be released if investigators uncover no further evidence. The city and its visitors are on edge, hoping this swift move will prevent any new tragedy.

Well keep you posted as the investigation unfolds. 🔍
