China and Egypt FMs Boost Ties, Push for Gaza Peace

In a friendly phone call this Tuesday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi 🤝 with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty dove into their comprehensive strategic partnership and tackled the pressing Palestinian issue.

Wang Yi highlighted that 2026 will mark the 70th anniversary of China–Egypt diplomatic ties and called for:

  • Stronger mutual support and deeper practical cooperation
  • Closer coordination in multilateral forums
  • Shared efforts to boost modernization across the Global South 🌍

Looking ahead to the second China-Arab States Summit in 2026, Wang invited Egypt to enhance communication and ensure the event’s success, promising more high-level exchanges.

Abdelatty confirmed that Egypt backs the one-China principle and insists Taiwan is an inalienable part of China’s territory. He praised China’s global initiatives and welcomed the new round of Chinese assistance to Palestine 🇵🇸.

On the Gaza front, Abdelatty briefed Wang on recent developments and applauded China’s proposals for peace and reconstruction. Wang warned that the Gaza conflict has dragged on for over two years, causing immense suffering. He stressed three key steps to move forward:

  • Uphold "Palestinians governing Palestine" – Gaza’s future lies in its people’s hands
  • Ensure Arab voices shape the process and regional concerns are addressed
  • Align efforts with the two-state solution and involve the UN and the UN Security Council 🕊️

Wang also highlighted President Xi’s announcement of new Chinese aid to ease the humanitarian crisis and support Gaza’s recovery. Both ministers pledged to work together for a just and lasting peace in the region.
