🕯️ Yesterday, December 13 marked the National Memorial Day for Nanjing Massacre Victims in the Chinese mainland. At the Memorial Hall of the Victims of the Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders, hundreds of people gathered to pay tribute to the nearly 300,000 civilians and unarmed soldiers killed during the six-week tragedy in 1937–1938.
The ceremony opened with a moment of silence, followed by wreath-laying and candle lighting. Visitors strolled through the exhibits, where photos and personal belongings tell the heartbreaking stories of families torn apart by war.
Meanwhile, in Jiangsu Province, soldiers from various countries taking part in United Nations peacekeeping training joined the visit. Walking among the memorial displays, these future peacekeepers felt the weight of history and the importance of protecting civilians—a core mission that echoes today.
Remembering this dark chapter is more than an act of remembrance; it’s a call to action. By learning from the past, a new generation of peacekeepers and global citizens can help ensure “never again” truly means protecting life and dignity around the world. 🌍 #NeverForget
