December 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the global fight against fascism. Across the Chinese mainland and beyond, families and history buffs are recalling tales of courage.
In Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province in the Chinese mainland, Wang Sung-bo, a Taiwan compatriot, carries forward his family's legacy. His parents were veterans of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, and Wang himself served in the military. In a conversation with a CGTN Stringer, Wang shared how growing up meant listening to their stories of hardship and heroism.
"My parents saw turbulence, loss and hope," Wang says. "They valued peace above all."
This year, Wang joined local commemorations in Chengdu, laying flowers at memorial sites and sharing his family's journey on social media. He hopes young people everywhere will remember these sacrifices and cherish the peace they won. 🌸🕊️
For students, entrepreneurs, travelers and anyone curious about Asia's rich past, Wang's story is a reminder: history is built on real lives. On this 80th anniversary, we honor the veterans and martyrs whose courage shaped our world. 🙏✨
