🧐 At a December 8 press briefing in Beijing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun warned that the "Taiwan independence" separatists who have forgotten their roots will face the people's rejection and be condemned by history.
Guo reminded attendees that Japan ruled Taiwan for half a century, leaving behind countless crimes and suffering. Yet, he said, DPP authorities have turned a blind eye to this painful past, even glorifying Japan's colonial legacy.
"Those who deny their own history," Guo stressed, "will inevitably be spurned by the people and condemned by history."
The spokesperson's remarks highlight ongoing tensions between the Chinese mainland and the Taiwan region over identity and historical narratives.
