Get ready for a splashy new nature doc! 🐬
This Friday (December 12, 2025), the first-ever documentary solely about the Chinese white dolphin premieres across the Chinese mainland. Six years in the making, Chinese White Dolphin follows Zhuzhu on her epic sea journey near the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge and beyond.
Why this film matters:
- World's first documentary focused on the Chinese white dolphin 🌐
- Population: ~6,000 globally, with 4,500 in Chinese waters (2,000+ in the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area)
- Backdrop: Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge and the 15th National Games of the three regions 🏟️
Behind the scenes, the crew teamed up with the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Aquatic Wildlife Conservation Branch of the China Wildlife Conservation Association. They logged over 100 offshore shoots across China's Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Hong Kong and Macao, plus trips to the US, Sweden, the UK and Thailand—covering more than 3,600 nautical miles!
Interviewing 21 scientists and 17 conservationists, the team captured over 1,000 hours of footage to craft an 82-minute adventure that blends science, storytelling and heart.
Director Yan Dong describes the story as more than a migration tale—it's a life force that crosses oceans and connects us all. 🌏💙
For nature lovers, aspiring marine biologists or anyone curious about our planet's coolest pink dolphin, this documentary promises an unforgettable deep dive. Grab your snacks and dive in!
