Hong Kong Rises: Volunteers Lead Rebuild at Wang Fuk Court

On December 8, nearly two weeks after the devastating fire on November 26, Hong Kong residents returned to Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po for the first time since the blaze. Many came just to gather whatever they could carry out of the scorched flats.

They weren’t alone. Rows of volunteers, armed with boxes, bottled water, and big hearts ❤️, helped families sort through valuables. Nearby, a supply truck stood open, offering free drinks, cardboard boxes, and plastic bags for anyone in need.

One standout helper was taxi driver Wong Chi-chuen, 58. For five straight days, he and fellow drivers shuttled residents around Tai Po at no charge. “We start at eight and don’t stop until late,” he said. “It hurts our incomes, but helping people matters more.” 🚕💪

From long lines of hands-on helpers to steady donations pouring in from across Hong Kong, the community’s solidarity is a powerful reminder: even after tragedy, hope and kindness light the way forward.
