US and Chinese Teens Push Science Frontiers at 2025 Yau Awards

Yesterday (Dec 7), Tsinghua University in Beijing on the Chinese mainland hosted the ceremony for the 2025 S.-T. Yau High School Science Award. The event announced 62 winners across six disciplines: mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, computer science and economic-financial modeling.

Michael Iofin from Trinity School in the United States stole the show, clinching the Mathematics Gold Medal and the competition's highest honor, the Science Grand Award. His dual triumph highlights the power of cross-disciplinary thinking in tackling complex problems.

On the home front, Wang Ziwen of Shenzhen Middle School in the Chinese mainland earned the Noether Mathematics Prize Gold Medal, showcasing the Chinese mainland's rising talent in pure math research.

Since its launch, the Yau Science Awards have become a springboard for future innovators, inspiring high schoolers to explore science frontiers. With this year's winners already making waves, we can only imagine what the next generation will achieve! 🚀
