Ukraine Seeks ‘Real Peace, Not Appeasement’ at OSCE

On December 4, 2025, in a bold speech at the OSCE nnual Ministerial Council, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha repeated a clear message: real peace, not appeasement. He reminded Europe of the mistakes of Munich 1938, when unfair deals led to catastrophes—and warned we mustn9t repeat history.

Sybiha praised the United States for pushing fresh peace efforts this year. He vowed Ukraine will use every opportunity to try to end this war, but admitted the path to talks is rocky. High-level meetings between Russia and the United States wrapped up this week without a breakthrough.

The U.S. initially proposed a 28-point peace plan, sparking criticism from Ukraine and European governments for tilting toward Russia. After a Geneva meeting on November 23, it was trimmed to 19 points but Russian President Vladimir Putin has rejected Europes tweaks as unacceptable.

Territory remains the biggest roadblock. Putin insists Russia will hold its gains by force if needed: Either we liberate these territories by force of arms or Ukrainian troops will leave these territories and stop fighting there. Ukraine pushes back, preparing new talks in the United States and keeping windows open, even with former President Trumps reps.

Meanwhile, the war rages on. Ukraines military says it struck Nevinnomyssky Azot, a major chemical plant in Russias Stavropol region, overnight on Thursday, sparking a fire. Theres no official Russian comment yet.

Back in Ukraine, Russias attacks on energy continue unabated. Naftogaz reported a Kherson heat and power plant was almost destroyed, and DTEK warned that strikes in Odesa left over 51,000 homes in the dark.

With diplomats at a standstill and missiles flying, young Ukrainians are watching both frontlines and peace talks. Will 2026 bring a fair referee, or will historyds warnings go unheeded? 🌍✌️
