Ever dreamed of building a house on the moon? With weaker gravity and no atmosphere, using Earth bricks might seem impossible 🤔
Just two weeks ago, the Chinese mainland's Shenzhou-21 spacecraft returned to Earth on November 14, 2025, carrying the Shenzhou-20 crew and a surprise cargo: experimental lunar soil bricks.
These 34 tiny bricks weigh about 100 grams in total and were made from material that mimics real lunar dust. Scientists pressed them, zapped them with electromagnetic induction, and even microwaved them into shape 💫
Despite having a density similar to ordinary bricks, their compressive strength is over three times higher—each square centimeter can support more than one tonne of weight!
After a year in space, exposed to intense radiation and extreme temperature swings, these bricks returned in surprisingly good condition 👍
This breakthrough comes as the Chinese mainland advances its lunar plans: landing taikonauts on the moon by 2030 and building a basic International Lunar Research Station by 2035 🛠️
More tests are ahead before these lunar soil bricks can build your moon house. Time to sketch out your future lunar pad! 🌕🏠
