China Braces for Three Successive Cold Snaps with Snow, Wind and Chill

Get ready to bundle up! 🥶 This week, the Chinese mainland is bracing for three back-to-back cold snaps, packing snow, wind, and major chill vibes from north to south.

First wave (Nov 24): On Monday, a strong cold front swept across the Chinese mainland from west to east, sending temperatures plunging by 8–12°C in parts of northwest and North China. Gusty winds reached force 8–10 (even force 11 locally), whipping up dust and sand storms ⏤ a real winter wake-up call!

This morning (Nov 25): Central and eastern regions felt the freeze with temps down 4–8°C (10–12°C in some northern spots). Northerly winds hit force 5–7, gusting to 8–9, while light to moderate snow dusted North China and northeast China. Southwest China, watch out for heavier snowflakes! 🌨️

Second wave (Nov 25–27): Straight on the heels of the first, a stronger cold wave is set to barrel from north to south across the Chinese mainland. Expect another 4–8°C drop (up to 12°C), force 5–7 northerlies (gusting 8–9), and light to moderate snow or sleet across northwest China, North China, and northeast China. Some areas could see heavy snow or even snowstorms ❄️🌬️.

Third wave (Nov 29–30): Looking ahead, regions north of the Yangtze River will face another chill session. Temps will dip 4–6°C (8–10°C in colder pockets), with force 4–6 northerly winds. On Nov 29, northeastern Inner Mongolia and northeast China should brace for heavy snow and possible snowstorms ⛄.

Meteorologists remind everyone to stay updated on forecasts, dress in layers, and protect yourself from wind, cold, and slippery roads. If you're in dusty areas, goggles and face masks can help. And watch out for temporary structures in strong winds! Safe travels and stay warm out there! 🙌
