At a daily briefing in Beijing, the Chinese mainland's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning pressed Japan to spell out what it really means by its "consistent stance" on the Taiwan region. 🤨
"Japan has recently mentioned its consistent stance on the Taiwan question. However, what exactly is the specific content of Japan's so-called consistent stance? Can Japan fully and publicly articulate this consistent stance?" she asked.
Mao warned that if Japan merely reiterates an unchanged position but remains vague in its wording and keeps crossing the line in practice, such rhetoric is empty and risks hollowing out the one-China principle. ⚠️
The spokesperson also rebuked the erroneous remarks made by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on China's Taiwan, saying they seriously violate the spirit of the four political documents between China and Japan and undermine the political foundation of their relations.
As tensions simmer, young professionals and students across the region are watching closely. Will Tokyo step up with clarity, or will bilateral trust erode further? 🌏🔍
