Premier Li Qiang Urges China-Germany Dialogue Boost at G20 Summit

On Sunday at the 20th G20 Summit in New Delhi, Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, urging both sides to step up dialogue 🤝 and address mutual concerns.

Li highlighted that China and Germany have been important economic and trade partners for 53 years, and that this year’s call between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Chancellor Merz set the tone for deeper ties. He emphasized mutual respect as the foundation and win-win cooperation as the defining feature of China-Germany relations.

Looking ahead, Li said China is keen to expand pragmatic cooperation in fields like new energy 🌱, intelligent manufacturing 🤖, biomedicine 💊, hydrogen energy technology, and intelligent driving. He described this push as a chance to drive industrial transformation, spark innovation, and energize a new era of collaboration.

This year also marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and the European Union. Li expressed hope that Germany will encourage the EU to view China-EU ties with a long-term vision, open mindset, and firm commitment to partnership.

On global issues, Li said China and Germany stand ready to coordinate in the United Nations and the G20 to promote multilateralism, free trade, and peaceful development.

Chancellor Merz affirmed that Germany values its partnership with China, praising the sound development of bilateral ties and the opportunities brought by China’s 15th Five-Year Plan. He stressed Germany’s commitment to openness, deeper political and economic dialogue, and cooperation in emerging tech and science.

Both leaders agreed that by strengthening communication and aligning on shared goals, China and Germany can help shape a stable, prosperous future on the world stage 🌐.
